How to use vacuum food boxes and vacuum bags?
What are vacuum lunch boxes and how do they work?
Vacuum food boxes are containers with a special vacuum function that extends the shelf life of food by sucking the air out of the box. This reduces oxygen levels, which slows the breakdown of food and preserves flavor and nutrients for longer.
What are vacuum bags and how do you use them?
Vacuum bags work in a similar way to vacuum food boxes. They are flexible bags that you can use to store food, and with the help of a vacuum pump you can easily vacuum seal the contents and extend shelf life.
Step-by-step: How to use vacuum food boxes
- Put the food in the vacuum lunch box and make sure not to fill it to the brim.
- Place the lid on the box and make sure it is tight.
- Use the vacuum pump to suck the air out of the box through the valve on the lid. (With food boxes without flaps, you may need to push the lid down with your hand to make it tight before extracting the oxygen.)
- Check that the lid is firmly attached and that no air is getting in. The vacuum valve has now been sucked in if the food box is tight and the oxygen is extracted.
- Then store in the fridge, freezer or pantry to keep the food longer while maintaining freshness.
- When you want to open the food box, you squeeze/squeeze the vacuum valve (you don't need to remove it) on the lid to let the oxygen in so that the vacuum is released.
Step-by-step: How to use vacuum bags
- Place the food in the vacuum bag and seal the top part lightly.
- Use the vacuum pump to suck the air out of the bag through the valve.
- Make sure the bag is properly sealed after all the air has been removed.
- Place the bag in the fridge or freezer to extend the shelf life of the food.

Frequently asked questions about vacuum food boxes and vacuum bags
How do I care for the lids after cleaning?
After they have been cleaned, it is important to make sure that the covers are dry and tight, especially in and around the valve. If the valve or the surrounding area is not completely dry, the vacuum function may be affected.
Why does the vacuum pump not work when the container is completely full?
If the tank is completely full and the valve is blocked, the oxygen cannot be extracted. For the vacuum pump to work properly, there must be enough space in the container for the air to be sucked out.
What happens if there is little food in relation to the volume of the container?
If there is little food relative to the volume of the container, the lid may sink in too much when the oxygen is extracted. This can cause the vacuum to not be completely sealed, especially around the valve or on the sides. If you notice that the lid starts to bulge inward too much, you can turn off the pump to avoid this problem.
How do I use the round vacuum lunch boxes without flaps?
The round containers do not have flaps like the other models, so you need to press the lid down slightly against the container to make it airtight. This applies until the vacuum has started to build and the lid stays in place.
What should I do if the lids have lost their fit?
As the lids are made of plastic, this happens either if they have been unused for a long time or if they have been washed in a machine at high heat, which we advise against, they can lose their fit due to the heat. To restore the fit, you can bend the lids back by pressing and bending the flaps inwards towards each other and then putting the lid on the container. Tighten the flaps so that the lid returns to its original shape.
How do I get the oxygen out of the bags?
It is important that the opening is completely tight (please use the included clamps to compress the opening) and that you do not press the pump too hard against the surface as you prevent the pump from accessing the oxygen. It is enough to put the pump against the hole and adjust so that the oxygen starts to be extracted. You learn this quickly but can feel a little frustrated the first time if you don't get it.
